Review of Brick (2006) by Andrew R — 24 Jan 2011
TheMovie Brick, made by Rian Johnson is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I am willing to call it such after one viewing. Although I suspect many more to come in the future. The film is an intricate film noir with a modern day twist.
Joseph Gordon Levitt is magnificent in this film portraying a deep character going through hell. I don't wish to dwelve to much on plot specifics as I feel the less you know about the film going in the more you will love it.
The plot goes to places I never suspected, and takes you on a journey like none I have seen. The way scenes are set up, the way they look, the waythe characters act, everything is done to perfection. Scenes of complex drama are stitched together with superb cinematography, and brilliant music.
From beginning to end Brick is a mind bender. Not a movie you should miss. It is on netflix watch instantly if you are interested. The film resonates with me in such a way that I felt like I needed to share it with the world, that is in essence the point of this blog to describe my cinematic adventures.
Check out Brick, and be prepared to be thinking about it long after the credits roll.
