An exceptionally well-made, powerful, and spiritually moving film, with a performance from Emily Watson that is for the history books. Unfortunately, Von Trier is so uncompromisingly, bewilderingly bleak he makes Bergman look like Shirley Temple.
A really amazing movie, but one I have no desire to see again.
