Review of Brainstorm (1983) by Paladin Of Odin — 19 Dec 2008
It is good, but not spectacular. They could have done much more with the basic plot outline but chose a confusing and sometimes boring idea instead. It does has some reedeming feaures, eg. the performances but there isn't much to rave about.
Christopher Walken is one factor that raises this film up. His performance is good but is still nothing compared to his other film roles Like King Of New York and The Deer Hunter.
Another is Louise Fletcher who gives the best performance of the film, but not of her career. As calm yet evil nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is much better.
And the final factor that makes it good is the basic plot. Unfortunatly, however, not much is done with it.
It is good, but it is no where near as good as I thought it would be.
