Review of Brainstorm (1983) by Bradford D — 01 Apr 2011
Where do I start with the bashing of this film? The plot was ultra-simple (helmet lets you experience taped events/ someone tapes their own death/ guy wants to play the tape). All the science was fake movie science but not fun like in Bride of Frankenstein, just silly techno- mumbo-jumbo.
There's a long sequence of Keystone Cops action that really needed to have the Benny Hill music playing in the background, but it was played as a serious thrill. The whole movie looked like it was badly spliced together from the cutting room floor.
Yes, yes, I know there was a "tragic death" involved, but that's an excuse for why your movie sucks, not a reason for me to call it good when it is not.
