Review of Boxcar Bertha (1972) by Aaron W — 26 Aug 2007
Scorsese's take on the exploitation film is remarkable in that it plays less like an exploitation film and more like Bonnie and Clyde. Scorsese even in his early work showed that he could work the technical side of a film and brilliantly handle his actors and actresses; this is not his best film by any stretch but it is a glimpse of what he would become with his next three films being Mean Streets, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and Taxi Driver.
