Review of Bottle Shock (2008) by Brian S — 19 Jun 2011
An interesting story with some definite bright spots, but not entirely impressive. certain plot points (like the guy who explains why the wine turned brown) seemed really shaky and the characters were all pretty flat despite their potential.
gorgeous as Rachael Taylor is, I thought her character was incredibly dull and the love triangle surrounding her added very little overall. I wanted more Alan Rickman, too--he seemed to be the only one driving the plot along, but he just sort of disappears for a while so father and son can be stubborn at each other.
plot disparities and genre confusion aside, this still manages to be a charmingly entertaining film with some gorgeous panoramic views of California wine country.
