Review of Bottle Shock (2008) by Justin S — 16 May 2012
A sort of inspirational underdog movie. I honestly wasn't aware of how intricate and artistic wine-making really is and this film sort of helped me see that. I thought the characters were mostly likeable, except Sam, the hussy. I was annoyed by her character simply because she hooked up with the cute little Gustavo and then they leave that storyline behind so she can wind up with Bo. Now I realize that little subplot wasn't an important part of the film BUT I did find it mildly irritating how it unfolded. They essentially just left it hanging and unresolved.
That aside, while it wasn't quite as charming as "Little Miss Sunshine" there was still something cute and enjoyable about it. I did enjoy the fact that California wine beat French wine not once but twice. Might have to try a glass now.
