Review of Boarding Gate (2007) by Dylan B — 08 Jul 2008
Another misfire from Olivier Assayas who in his earlier film, Irma Vep, made effortless and entertaining statements about globalization. Here, a prostitute (Argento) settles the score with a ex-lover, only to be double-crossed again.
Tedious sado masochism as in his previous globalization mis-fire "Demonlover" but done in an even less interesting way. Assayas should hopefully return to interpersonal drama, which he excels in and will stay away from intrigue which he feels needs a heavy handed treatment.
