Review of Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) by Grant K — 13 Apr 2013
While it seems like a repeat of the original but lacking the special touch of John Belushi, I still consider Blues Brothers 2000 a worthy sequel.
With the number of similarities to the original such as Similar Story, Similar Jokes, Some of the same actors and the same director, the film ensures that it stays true to it's roots. The music is energetic and enjoyable and the humor makes you laugh fairly well. Plus it has moments of cool cgi.
The fact that it somewhat is so much like the original gives me mixed thoughts since its actually really close to being just the exact same story, but in all honesty the films qualities are good and it may be enough to satisfy your hunger for more Blues Brothers. Still, it isn't as great as the original and is primarily a rehash with high energy music.
