Review of Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) by Ryan V — 16 Jul 2013
I feel bad giving this film a low grade since it has some fantastic music and it seems like all the participants had fun making the film. However, the plot of the first movie had funny jokes, impressive action, and narrative focus that complemented the terrific musical moments.
This sequel, which also finds Dan Aykroyd's Elwood Blues running from the law, doesn't have any of those things. The scenes just kind of plod along until we get to James Brown, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, B.
B. King, Billy Preston, Dr. John, and the rest of the many musical cameos.
