Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Matt P — 30 Mar 2011
A really interesting critique of American culture that channels nicely into various levels of academic study, but as a film to participate with on a personal level I've always felt that Blue Velvet is a bit of a closed shop.
I appreciate Lynch as an important filmmaker, but this, like many of his more unconventional works, frustrates me because it gets carried away with extravagant and convoluted metaphors. I personally don't think this is Lynch's best effort.
