Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Ryan R — 28 Jul 2010
One of David Lynch's most accessible films for audiences, the plot is relatively straight forward compared to Eraserhead, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire. However, this film is packed with powerful performances from Hopper, Rossellini and MacLachlan, combined with the impressive ideas of Lynch which meld voyeurism with film noir in an immersive murder mystery.
On a first viewing, its near impossible to predict where the film will go and it will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression to two memorable scenes that will live on in cinematic infamy. You'll never look at a pair of scissors the same way again.
