Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Richard L — 10 Feb 2011
This movie is part romance, part thriller, and part crime drama. It's not my favorite kind of movie but, still, it's original and interesting for the genre. Lynch's usual freudian symbolism and weirdness are invited, as well as a few personality disorders thrown in for good measure.
Contrarily to Lynch's more obscure storylines and directing techniques, this movie is rather easy to grasp and I couldn't help but notice the similarities between some sets in this movies and those found in Tarantino's.
