Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Daniel P — 23 Sep 2012
Caution you are now entering the world of David Lynch.
Lynch in the opening scenes portrays the American dream, the perfect town house with the white picket fence, a man watering the garden falls down suffering a heart attack. The camera goes beneath the earth, exposing the audience to the unnerving dark sights and sounds of the underground.
Metaphorically Lynch is telling the audience, life has two sides, on the surface the American dream, on the other side lerks an underbelly of disturbing violence.
