Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Rainer K — 07 Oct 2011
I'm proud of myself that I now endured all of Lynch's major films... with various findings though - from disappointing and plain weird (Eraserhead) over decent (Mulholland Dr. and Blue Velvet) to quite good (Elephant Man).
Like in all of his films, Lynch's distinctive style (editing, sound/score, close-ups,...) also characterizes Blue Velvet.
After all, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, because it isn't in my mind but in any case an extraordinary different mystery thriller with an outstanding Dennis Hopper.
