Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Rizka R — 02 May 2012
It's meant to be a story about people falling out of love for the other in a marriage. But in my opinion the beginning of their love story was never promising. Cindy was unstable and the more unlikeable character, Dean carefree and the more sympathetic one.
Their relationship could've grown into something more promising, but we never find out, because the couple were dragged into a marriage that resulted out of an "accident". What are the odds of a "premature" marriage like that lasting? So no, I think I didn't get the message the writers intended the movie to have, but in a whole other light I did; it was emotional although sometimes I didn't get the point of it.
The movie doesn't give a definite conclusion about their marriage, although I do sincerely hope for a happy ending.
