Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Darien S — 17 Sep 2012
I cannot imagine the reasons this movie was some kind of breakthrough in the US. Hitting hard at taboos and such. It is a love story of broken hearts and broken dreamz. Period. Maybe "Teen Mom" or "16 and pregnant" wanted a chance at the silver screen? Many couples struggle with sex -among other thingz- when the first flames are out.
These days "50 shades of Grey" is testing the prudish Americans. Those same Americans who watch Walley porn -partially- made by Hungarian stallions. I cannot imagine how oppressed the Americans could be -sexually- but hey, Wall Street brokers paved the way sleeping with luxury babes, driving hired Lamborghinis and vacuuming cocain on company cost.
So the top also -and not just the white trash- could be pretty messed up. The movie is nice, touching, shifting in time back and forth, but left me without the truth: what was the initial problem, that turned the man into an alcoholic?
