Review of Blue Like Jazz (2012) by Stayce R — 29 Aug 2012
Mainly a comedy. Basic storyline - Kid grows up a strict southern baptist and is very involved in his church. He recieves a scholarship to a Baptist College, although unbeknownst to him, his very eccentric liberal father enrolled him in a very liberal artsy college, which the kid is not interested in.
Upon learning that his mother was maybe having an affair with the youth pastor at their church, he goes all rebellious and ends up at the Liberal college. Being a christian and beleiving in God is social suicide at this college, so he hides his beliefs and decides to fit in.
...and he does go a bit overboard...getting all kinds of crazy! But during all this he grapples with his beliefs and life. This movie was not super heavy in any way, but was definitely entertaining!
