This movie could have been written or directed by a women given the dubious moral which is that he was a nice husband because he lured and murdered other women in order to trick a demon asking to take back the wife's character, a typical female fantasy enabling and endorsing men doing evil things to please them.
That's why it's surprising that it would be directed by Bruckner.
