Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Javier A — 27 Jun 2014
Blue Jasmine is just about the most pointless film I have seen to date. If Cate Blanchette had not been in this film it would have been horrible. As it stands it is 2 hours of my life I will sadly never get back.
From a womans perspective I find the lead character contrite, sniveling, wallowing, and having no debth of perspective. Which makes her a unsympathetic character. She has no drive, no sense of being a survivor, no ambition.
As a woman I find this very hard to watch. Especially in the year 2014. This is not 1950.
