Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by S?Rxan H — 03 Aug 2015
What I didn't like in this movie is not to understand the sexual orientation of Adele from other's POV. She can't create normal hetero-relationship with Thomas, then develops homosexual feelings with Emma. Emma as an artist, is a free-thinker and open-minded person only for one mistake rejects her. May be, Kechiche that's why chose the name 'Adele' (means "justice" in arabic).
Adele is having sexual fluctuations, her Kinsey scale changes continuously and no one understands her, even Emma threw her away. Emma's behaviour turns out in cafe scene with Adele which I consider great scene of the movie, because we know that Emma also yearns for, but is now having relationship with other woman and can't do anything towards this barrier.
Adele says that everything settled between her and Emma, that they're in peace. But Adele's destiny is unclouded and even at the end she still alone and 'lousy' (as hopeless), which it is Emma as being 'lousy' (being bad) actually.
