Review of Blow Out (1981) by Andrejs P — 04 Jul 2011
The reason I saw this movie was because of an interview I saw with tarrantino saying how he was begging the studio to hire travolta to do pulp fiction and he said "man just look at travolta in blow out". so yeah thats why I watched this movie. subsequently I've learned that this is a remake of blow up by antonioni. I guess I'll have to rewatch that one.
In any case I enjoyed the cinematography in the park (especially the owl) in the beginning of the movie and some of the night noirish city scenes. In my opinion the movie needed more of that and it also needed someone besides nancy allen. also I dont think lithgow was used to full effect either.
The first half of the movie had A LOT of promise, but in the end, it just didnt deliver.
