Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Jeremy S — 12 Aug 2013
The Coens' debut remains one of their best movies of all time, and one of the best filmmaking debuts of all time. This is the film noir that threw down the template for the brothers' signature auteur characteristics: dark humor, stupid people doing stupid things for money, a taut script, Frances McDormand, it's all here.
Put this next to Fargo, No Country, and Miller's Crossing as one of the best Coen films.
