Review of Blood Simple (1985) by José P — 16 Sep 2008
I actually found this movie rather unsettling, particularly one scene that reminds me a little of Deliverance. This movie is completely about suspense, and the Coens do not disappoint. The dialogue is sparse, there is limited characterization, and the film actually seems to start in medias res, but none of this matters if you can appreciate how effectively tension is built throughout.
A solid modern noir.
