Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Peter S — 18 Feb 2017
Most directors debuts are normally forgotten about or just severely underrated. When you think about the Coen brothers films, what probably comes most to mind are raising Arizona, Barton fink, Fargo, the big lebowski and o brother, where art thou? This is one generally forgotten about, and that's a real shame.
The cast is one of a kind, the story and script is excellent and the violence is brutal but slick and stylish. This is the precursor to all Coen brothers films. With darkly humorous bits, brutal violence and heavy use of profanity, it's all what everyone expects for another excellent Coen brothers film that hits the nail on the head.
