Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Tim S — 14 Feb 2010
Even though I'm not a big fan of the Coen's, and I've never wanted to see any of their films more than once, I do respect them as immensely talented writers of effortless awesomeness. And this film is a good example.
The budget was probably no more than a hundred dollars, and there's only about five characters in the film, and yet the plot twists and turns and surprises all the way through. You think you know what's about to happen and you're always wrong.
Chuck in some wonderful photography by one Barry Sonnenfeld and you have a simply brilliant film.
