Blood Father works as an action thriller, just as well as it works as a drama. It tells a simple story, that is elevated by a polished screenplay and a great turn by Mel Gibson. The action is handled well and Blood Father never lets up it's momentum, while maintaining it's fleshed out characters front and center.
