Review of Blair Witch (2016) by Tammy L — 21 Sep 2016
"Blair Witch" is the latest work in the pantheon of found footage movies. In this sequel to "The Blair Witch Project," a college student whose sister disappeared in the Black Hills Woods of Maryland gets a crew together to search for her.
The woods are rumored to be haunted by a mysterious entity who has led (supposedly) to many disappearances. Patently, this is almost a shot for shot remake of the original. Nothing is different except that the Witch can somehow manipulate time so it never becomes daylight.
The hapless students are picked off one by one and if course we see the proverbial house again. It's not that this film is bad per se; it's just an unnecessary reboot on the original. Though some of the camera angles are shoddy, the film has enough popcorn value to be entertaining despite the flat characters and flimsy script --------------------------------------------------- C+.
