Review of Blade Runner (1982) by Horvath S — 22 Sep 2014
To get me into movies, I somehow decided that Blade Runner would be the catalyst. For a catalyst though, this movie is slow and lingering, which I consider a strength. The long lingering shots of futuristic buildings coupled with the synthesized score pulled me into this strange world where people speak French-Japanese, walked around with glowing umbrellas, and driving a flying car with a CRT for its interface.
Then enter Harrison Ford (in another iconic role) eating ramen in a neon-lit downtown area. There's just something off and so interesting about all this that drew me into it.
