Review of Blade Runner (1982) by Richard C — 02 Dec 2018
A hugely influential film, full of many noir/detective tropes given a unique sci-fi twist. Ridley Scott created an amazing vision of what was the future upon it's release. The story is relatively simple but effective - find a group of Replicants (engineered humans) who are illegal on Earth. The pacing and thought required to watch this film probably puts off a lot of people from doing so, yet if you are prepared to sit through longer scenes where there is little (if any) dialogue, soaking up the future Los Angeles, then you will be properly rewarded.
The ambiguity of who is a Replicant and what it really means to be human is left to the viewer - this is not a simple 'cut and dried' film.
