Black Swan is a an interestingly strong film in its own pompous and self-aware kind of way. It is part thriller, psychological study of the mind, old fashioned horror and melodrama. It is ambitious and a fine film to witness, well directed by the talented Darren Aronofsky and well acted by Natalie Portman and a few of the other cast members.

The film does border on being too ridiculous at parts especially the shock and horror moments where everything is slightly obvious and the overtly sexual moments of the film. Although, regardless of these flaws, the film does stick with you even after the credits and it is an effective and unique film to come out in cinemas recently.

If one does not like the melodramatic tone of the film, one cannot disregard Aronofsky's vision and attention to style in this film.
