Review of Black Swan (2010) by Kathleen R — 26 Mar 2013
I could try and look for more words to describe this, but I think one would suffice. Masterful. Here's a performance that truly locked in an Oscar win (and it did for Natalie Portman). There is certain darkness that makes you hairs defy gravity.
A chill that would crept from your pelvic bone up to your spinal chord. A feel that you wanna burst into tears and just curl up in a fetal position. I could even say screw the story, you don't need think much about that, It's the feel of a great movie.
Darren Aronofsky dispenses masterful art on this on and brought out the best of Portman's undeniable talent. This is almost a one woman show, (except that, it's hard to deny mention of Kunis' performance).
