Review of Black Sunday (1960) by Guy A — 19 Aug 2007
I'm in a Bava phase at the moment, rewatching a lot of his films in anticipation of Tim Lucas' mammoth book on the man.
Okay, so this is woefully over the top at times but still, if one can look beyond the performers attempts to devour the sets - and there's no point in watching Italian horror cinema if you can't - then you still have a wonderful piece of visual Gothic. Bava's ability to create beautiful pictures onscreen is as prominent in Black & White as in colour.
