Review of Black Sunday (1960) by Whit W — 06 Jan 2012
Mario Bava's debut, Black Sunday, is a classic piece of horror and macabre. It has probably inspired infinite cheap horror movies but Mario Bava's skill of lighting to evoke mood and atmosphere is not easy to replicate.
The story and plot is, of course, corny although it has some very interesting special effects. The major flaw of this film is the wooden characters and the terrible dialogue that seems to have been written by an adolescent.
