Review of Black Souls (2014) by Stanley F — 10 Nov 2015
A dark and carefully constructed family drama that draws you into the loss and sadness that are the inevitable fruits of violence and machismo. Expertly acted and staged, the film stands away from attributing glamour or sexiness to violence and shows it for what it is- an understandable but weak response to loss and grief. It never preaches or patronises, and holds you in its bleak arms gently until the end.
Well worth a viewing.
