Review of Black Orpheus (1959) by Mike T — 03 Apr 2009
This modern re-telling of the ancient myth is both creative and ingenious in its interpretation. Camus does an excellent job at re-mythifying the tale in the backdrop of the Carnival in Rio, which in itself is a wonder of our times.
Realism and magic are juxtaposed together to create an atmosphere where the tragic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice can be re-told in a new and exciting manner. Definitely a classic.
