Review of Sweet and Lowdown (1999) by Benjamin B — 14 Jun 2008
It's quirky and fun and although it is an unconventional biopic (that reminds me of "American Splendor"), I'm still not a big fan (of biopics in general). When I see actors portray real people, it comes off as an imitation that is over-the-top and gimicky.
It's a nice, stylized piece - that's all that can really be said. Morton gives a sweet performance here.
