Review of Black Hawk Down (2001) by Mate M — 11 May 2013
I was thirteen and was in eighth grade when this movie came out. My Dad took me and my brother to see it and we didn't like it. Then a year or so later, It broadcast on TV, and I started to like it again.
I thought Ridley Scott directed a very intense and realistic war movie and it's one my favorite Jerry Bruckheimer and Josh Hartnett films. I thought Hartnett's performance as Ranger Staff Sergeant Matt Eversmann was good and Ewan McGregor's performance as Grimes was funny.
Ridley Scott directed a top notched cast that includes: Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Tom Sizemore, William Fichtner, Jason Issacs, Ewen Bremner, Jeremy Piven, Hugh Dancy, Ioan Gruffudd, Brian Van Holt, Ron Eldard, Matthew Marsden, Thomas Guiry, Ty Burrell, and Sam Shepard.
The scene when Hartnett and the other rangers try to get a bullet out of Charlie Hofheimer's character Smith was very disgusting. I heard Ben Foster was originally supposed to play Smith, but he broke his leg while training for the film.
Anyway, Great Cast; Great Story; GREAT MOVIE!
