Review of Black Christmas (2006) by Henry Hull H — 24 Feb 2013
The basically drops the ball on what could of been one of the most interesting remakes. I heard the bad buzz surrounding the film but often I ignore critics as they are quite narrow minded fools. They get it right here for a change.
Glen Morgan helped create the much more interesting final destination but sadly he can't inject life into this odd film. The gruesome murders really take the mood from the film as this is quite sickening at times. It does very little for the film and sadly I will only remember it for these mental only. The interesting part of the film was the way the flashbacks occur. I thought these moments were interesting but they even become a little to much. If they actually set out to make an interesting slasher film maybe the film could of presented some scares. It's focus on the gruesome murders just doesn't work.
The cast is good but they haven't got any characters of interest. The film should have focused more on characters and less on the murders. You really have no interest on who is dying.
The film is just a loud boring gore fest with no direction. Surely one of the talented writers should have picked up on this poor script. Surely remakes could at least use something that worked from the original.
