Review of Black Book (2006) by David T — 02 Sep 2008
This was a great war film.
Telling the story of the brave resistance who fought against the odds to try and defeat the Germans in Holland and all across Europe too.
This is a testament to their sacrifice against one of the world's most brutal military racemes.
The film is set in the Netherlands just before the end of the war and after the failed Operation Market Garden mission which was hoped would liberate Holland and end the war with a massive push for Germany.
In this time the Germans continued their hayness crimes against the Jews and persecuted them beyond belief.
The resistance would try and help theses refugees of war just as they did Allied troops, stopping the Germans from committing mindless acts of violence against the Jews and helping with the war and ultimate victory.
This movie tells the story of how so few made a massive difference in the war and the lives of the people.
With a very good cast including the stunning Carice Van Houten, Halina Reijn, Sebastian Koch, Thom Hoffman, Waldemar Kobus.
