Review of Black Book (2006) by Dave M — 11 Feb 2013
Titties titties titties. And some bush dying too. Oh did I mention this was a WWII film about a woman's tragic struggle for freedom? Well it was damn good and powerful, actually some parts really turned my stomach.
What else could you expect from a Paul Verhouven film besides violence and eroticism? Well, a story for one. A gigantic return to roots from Mr. Verhoeven who showed a lot of maturity while still portraying his signature tastes in blood and body.
Really worth seeing for all of you who've been looking for a depressing WW2 film since Saving Private Ryan and The Pianist. I just hope you're tastes aren't bittered by the fact that the majority of the film is spoken in Dutch.
