An absolutely beautiful and poetic film, despite the dark and dire subject matter. "Biutiful" is on par with many of the fantastic Spanish language films which have came out over the last decade, and in many respects, surpasses most of them--thanks to Javier Bardem's breathtaking performance.

In fact, Bardem's performance may be the best offering found in any film of last year, foreign or domestic. While the film slightly struggles in the final act, Bardem's performance and the beautifully gritty cinematography make this a must see.
