Review of Biloxi Blues (1988) by Sean S — 11 Dec 2012
Smart, knowing and adept at telling its often aspirational source material, while Biloxi Blues isn't set to become a classic or necessarily accurate portrayal of United States Army training 24 years after its making, what it does it does well; however, World War II ends before the awkward but witty Jewish 20-year-old Eugene Morris Jerome (Matthew Broderick) can be shipped off to fight.
His experiences with his fellow soldiers are the best thing about the movie, and his activities in his down-time, such as losing his virginity or getting a girlfriend, are touching and never played with comedic insensitivity.
