Review of Biloxi Blues (1988) by Jonathan H — 05 Mar 2009
I would love to see this on the stage. I think it would work better. The film is fine but forgettable, and lacks much punch considering the subject matter. It also lacks humor, which I chalk up to the actors more than the writing. I think the dialogue is probably better suited for the stage, where timing and exaggerated emoting probably enhances the characters and nostalgia.
Having said that, Christopher Walken does a fine job.
