Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Matt D — 12 Aug 2015
By and large I consider myself a Tim Burton defender (minus my hatred of his Alice in Wonderland) but even I found it hard to get excited about this one. I loved Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams and I swooned at the brightly colored, mid-century Technicolor pop of the film's cinematography, but beyond that this merely "a nice film".
It is by no means bad but it also won't stick with me for more than a few days. In fact, a few years from now if it somehow manages to find its way into a conversation I'll probably struggle to remember if I saw it or not.
Here's hoping Burton finds a little more inspiration on his next few projects.
