Review of Bicentennial Man (1999) by Marilee A — 12 Feb 2014
Bicentennial Man was touching and sweet, but if the plot had jumped around anymore it wouldn't have been a movie so much as a virtual Po-go stick. One minute you're watching two little girls and within the next 30 minutes they've already grown to the point where they have grandchildren.
The scripting seemed pretentious as the "be true to who you are" cliche offered nothing new to the imagination; I could have predicted the entire thing if not for the fact I was trying to genuinely enjoy it.
Robin Williams is a comedic genius with acting worthy of any movie, except for this one. This movie lasted an hour longer than it should have and fast-forwarding through that many generations of one family takes all interest and completely dissipates it.
Aside from the scripting and the constant confusion about who's-who, this movie does have the ability capture young hearts.
