Review of Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) by Dennis R — 19 May 2012
A tripped out ode to 70s/80s sci-fi (the synth soundtrack, costume and set design are phenomenal) and a healthy dose of Lynchian/Cronenberg surrealism is the order of the day. Unique and intoxicating, Beyond The Black Rainbow is pretentious for sure (and will bore more people than it will enthral) but it's unique vision is undeniable.
It suffers, however, from slightly too much style over substance.
