Review of Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) by Wayne S — 13 Jan 2013
Beyond The Black Rainbow seems to share its design sensibilities with Kubrick's 2001. The visual and sound design are excellent. The music is evocative of Barry Devorzon. The movie very well establishes itself in the style of its primary setting in 1983.
And the movie is populated with a fine group of actors. The components are all just fine. Unfortunately they're used to construct a film that, while it held me engaged for long stretches, failed to build something worth investing two hours in watching.
