(2012) Beyond the Black Rainbow.
SCIENCE-FICTION ART HOUSE.
By going by my memory in terms of 'art house' films this is similar to George Lucas's first directorial movie debut "THX-1138" made in 1971 and "The Man Who Fell to Earth" which bright lights, close ups and bizarre camera angles are used frequently to enhance it's pictorial look. There's no plot to speak about since it serves no purpose except as a backdrop to it's many crazy visuals and camera trickery which the thin plot involves a young teenage girl whose continually being trapped by a dysfunctional abnormal human being who consists to carry some psychic abilities which is the same as the girl that is being experimented on- her name is Elena(Eva Allan) for it's a mater of time before she escapes. And the person whose keeping her locked up in this experimental facility is Barry played by Michael Rodgers. Written and directed by Panos Cosmatos which looks like a low budget futuristic class project feels somewhat strange ambitious and optimistic, and for that it grants a pass.
2.5 out of 4 stars.
