Review of Best Worst Movie (2009) by Fil A — 18 Aug 2010
We've all watched movies so bad they are funny. Troll 2 was probably the best example of the phenomenon ever. With many of these films you look on the imdb and see that almost none of the cast did anything after the film. But what is it really like for those involves with such a thing? Especially when the movie is so bad it actually becomes a massive cult success. Must be pretty weird. Well that's where this documentary comes in.
As bad as the film was, this documentary is pretty awesome. Looking at the making of the movie, how it affected the lives of those involved (mostly due to it being such an embarrassment to be part of) and how they now react to it's current growing popularity as "the worst movie ever made".
It is pretty unique. There are loads of documentaries about successful films and great actors and directors. But no one has really looked into the story of bad movies. Until now.
Interesting to note, since they started filming this documentary Troll 2 has gone up to only the 64th worst movie ever made. Scoring higher then Son of the Mask, Glitter, Disaster Movie and House of the Dead. To be fair Troll 2 is much more entertaining then any of those so it is probably about right.
